Who Could Penta And Rey Fenix Face Next On WWE TV?

Penta and Rey Fenix have yet to bring their tag team to a live Raw or SmackDown broadcast, but the pairing is drawing plenty of speculation after their recent run of matches together in WWE, including a bout against Berto and Daga of Los Perros del Mal at Worlds Collide and a trios outing at AAA’s Ola de Calor. With the Lucha Brothers clearly being built toward a proper main roster tag debut, attention is turning to who they might line up against once that happens.

One natural candidate is Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. Before their televised appearances together, Penta and Fenix actually teamed up in a dark match after the July 31 SmackDown taping, defeating Dominik and McDonagh in a bout that never aired live. Add in Penta’s prior issues with Dominik dating back to their Intercontinental Championship feud, and the pieces are already in place for a televised rematch. Since Penta is a Raw regular and Judgment Day is entrenched on that brand, this would only require Fenix making a guest appearance on the red show — something WWE has done before for the Lucha Brothers.

Another logical direction is a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships, currently held by Tama and Talla Tonga of the MFTs. The Tongas won the titles from R-Truth and Damian Priest on the August 14 SmackDown, in a match that also featured the War Raiders. Kyoki and Shinsuke Nakamura’s Bakusai are already positioned as challengers, but should that pursuit fall short, Penta and Fenix would make sense as the next team stepping up. The Lucha Brothers have held tag gold across AEW, TNA, PWG, and the pre-WWE version of AAA, and adding a WWE main roster title to that résumé would be a fitting next step in their career.

The Vision’s Austin Theory and Bron Breakker, who hold the Raw-exclusive World Tag Team Championship after beating the Street Profits on July 6, represent a third possibility. Penta has already crossed paths with The Vision, giving WWE an easy hook to bring Fenix into that mix as well. Notably, Theory and Breakker haven’t defended those titles in a televised match since winning them, suggesting WWE may not be fully committed to positioning that duo as the top act in the tag division — an opening a fresh, decorated team like the Lucha Brothers could exploit.

Whichever direction WWE goes, the larger story here is what a full-time Penta and Fenix pairing does for a tag division that has leaned heavily on the same handful of acts in recent months. Both men bring championship pedigree from nearly every major promotion they’ve worked, plus an established connection to Judgment Day storylines that WWE could easily reignite. Whether they debut chasing gold or settling old scores with Dominik and McDonagh, it’s clear WWE has options once it decides to pull the trigger on the Lucha Brothers’ main roster arrival. For now, fans will have to wait and see which path the company chooses — and how soon.
