A legendary name in lucha libre has been resurrected. During Saturday’s live edition of AAA on Fox, a new incarnation of Perros del Mal was unveiled, featuring Karmen Petrovic, Daga, Angel Garza, Berto, and Bronco Nima. The faction made an immediate statement by attacking El Grande Americano in the show’s closing segment, announcing their presence in dramatic fashion.
Perros del Mal carries significant weight in the history of Mexican wrestling. The original stable, which ran during the 2000s and early 2010s, was synonymous with an edgy, rebellious identity and produced some of the most memorable moments in lucha libre from that era. Seeing the name return under a new generation of talent is bound to draw strong reactions from fans who remember what the brand once represented.
One of those fans is Taya Valkyrie, who has deep ties to the lucha libre world and a personal connection to Perros del Mal. Valkyrie reacted publicly to the reformation, saying she will always treasure the group. Her message to fans curious about the new version was characteristically direct: “Learn about the history and enjoy it.”
With Angel Garza bringing name recognition from his time in WWE and Daga serving as one of the more credible in-ring workers currently active on the AAA roster, the new Perros del Mal has a solid foundation. Whether the group can live up to the weight of the name remains to be seen, but Saturday’s debut left little doubt about their intentions going forward.
