Austin Aries Set For MLW Fusion’s Tennessee Debut

MLW National Champion Austin Aries is set to appear on MLW Fusion on Saturday, August 15, as the promotion makes its first trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for a sold-out show.

Aries has held the National Championship with the kind of self-assured swagger that’s defined his entire career, and there’s little reason to think a live, first-time crowd in the Volunteer State will get anything less than the full arrogant-genius routine he’s built a Hall of Fame résumé on. Whether he’s in the ring or simply on the mic reminding everyone why he thinks he’s the best wrestler alive, Aries has a way of altering the temperature of a show the moment he shows up — and MLW is banking on that presence to punctuate a stacked card.

The rest of the Fusion lineup is loaded. The Good Brothers get a crack at MLW World Tag Team gold against The Skyscrapers, LaBron Kozone looks to settle a score with Joe Coffey, and Místico is expected to address his future with the company. JUMBO makes a debut, ZAMAYA gets a featured spot, and Josef Samael becomes the latest subject of the MLW Insider deep-dive. A battle royal rounds things out with a significant opportunity on the line for whoever comes out on top.

For a company that has spent the past couple of years steadily expanding its touring footprint and building out a roster mixing MLW originals, free agents, and international talent, cracking a new market like Chattanooga is a meaningful step. Putting the National Champion front and center for that debut is a clear signal MLW wants to make a first impression, using one of its most reliably charismatic veterans to sell a crowd that may be seeing the product live for the first time.

It also keeps Aries squarely in the spotlight amid a title reign that has leaned heavily on his ability to talk his way into and out of trouble. With a tag title change on the table, a grudge match, a battle royal, and multiple wrestlers looking to make statements, Fusion has plenty of storylines that could intersect with the National Champion before the night is through — and Aries has never been one to stay on the sidelines when there’s an opportunity to insert himself.

MLW Fusion airs Saturday, August 15, at 6:05 PM ET, streaming free on YouTube, with additional airings at 9:00 PM ET on VEEPS and 10:00 PM ET on beIN SPORTS. The episode also streams on NJPW World at 12:00 PM JST Monday, which airs at 11:00 PM ET Sunday in the United States.

With Aries in the building and a card built to make an impression on a new market, Chattanooga’s first taste of MLW looks set to deliver plenty of fireworks.
