Jericho Gets TNT Title Shot Against Knight on Dynamite in Vegas

AEW Dynamite is set for Wednesday, August 12, at The Pearl Theater at the Palms in Las Vegas, airing live on TBS and streaming on HBO Max, with the road to All In: London at Wembley Stadium continuing to take shape just over two weeks out from the show.

The headline attraction is a TNT Championship match pitting “The Jet” Kevin Knight against Chris Jericho. Knight turned down Darby Allin’s Falls Count Anywhere challenge for All In: London, choosing instead to call out Jericho for the Judas Effect that helped set up Allin’s pin over Knight’s team at Grand Slam: Mexico. Knight has been quick to point out that despite Jericho’s history as the first-ever AEW World Champion and a former TNT and TBS titleholder, he has never actually held the TNT Championship — a distinction Jericho will look to change in Las Vegas.

The Continental Challenge Cup also rolls on with two first-round matches. Jay White and David Finlay finally settle their long-simmering rivalry in a singles match for the first time in AEW, continuing a feud that stretches back to their days training together in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. White holds a 3-1 edge in their prior encounters, including a NEVER Openweight Title win in 2021, but Finlay and The Dogs have gotten the better of Bang Bang Gang in more recent AEW skirmishes.

Elsewhere in the bracket, Jack Perry squares off with AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley in their first one-on-one meeting, after tensions boiled over during a Collision tag match where Moxley and the Death Riders got the better of Perry and Bang Bang Gang. Moxley has voiced a grudging respect for Perry while making clear he’s no fan of his associates, and Perry has warned that one loss is all it will take to end Moxley’s Continental reign before the tournament even reaches its quarterfinals.

Also on the card, the #2 spot in the All In: London Casino Gauntlet is on the line as MJF, Nick Wayne, and “Speedball” Mike Bailey collide in a three-way. MJF laid claim to being “the true World Champion” after ambushing AEW National Champion Andrade El Ídolo at Grand Slam: Mexico, and now looks to join Andrade — who already secured the top spot — as the tournament’s second entrant. Bailey enters riding momentum from a win over Myron Reed, while Wayne, who is also gearing up to challenge Bandido for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor on August 21, has his eyes on becoming AEW’s youngest-ever World Champion.

With All In: London fast approaching, every one of these matches carries real stakes for how the Wembley Stadium card takes shape. The TNT Title picture, the Continental Cup bracket, and the Casino Gauntlet field are all being defined week to week on Dynamite, and Las Vegas adds another consequential chapter before AEW’s biggest stateside stars head overseas.
