Undertaker Says Six Feet Under Podcast May End Soon

The Undertaker doesn’t sound like a man eager to keep podcasting. In a conversation with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Mark Calaway admitted he has never actually enjoyed hosting Six Feet Under and suggested the show is unlikely to continue much longer.

Asked point-blank whether recording the podcast was fun, Calaway didn’t hold back. “Not at all. No. I mean, Fanatics is actually one of the sponsors, but I’d almost rather go to the dentist and pull a tooth than do a podcast,” he said. When Van Vliet floated the idea that the show could run for years to come, Calaway shot that down just as quickly. “Years? … No, we’re probably talking months. I think when this contract rolls out, I don’t think we’ll be renewing.”

That’s a striking admission from one of WWE’s most enduring and mythologized figures, especially given how much Six Feet Under has changed since it launched. The podcast originally paired Calaway with his longtime friend Matt Lyda, and their relaxed, unscripted banter quickly became the show’s calling card. Fans consistently pointed to that dynamic as the reason the podcast stood out in an increasingly crowded wrestling media space.

Things shifted in 2025 when WWE took over production of the show and moved it under the Fanatics umbrella. As part of that reshuffling, Lyda was replaced by Calaway’s wife and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Michelle McCool. Lyda later said on Maven Huffman’s YouTube channel that he was never given advance notice of the change, explaining that Calaway personally broke the news to him that WWE was assuming control and altering the format.

Since that transition, a portion of the audience has argued the podcast lost the loose, authentic feel that made the Lyda era resonate. Calaway’s latest comments suggest he may share some of that sentiment himself, even if his frustration seems more rooted in podcasting as a medium than in any specific co-host arrangement.

It’s worth noting Calaway didn’t say the show is definitely ending — he framed it as unlikely to be renewed once the current deal runs out, which he estimated at a matter of months rather than years. But for a performer who built his entire career on mystique and controlled messaging, this kind of blunt, unscripted admission is notable in itself. The Undertaker character thrived on ambiguity; Mark Calaway, clearly, has less patience for the microphone-and-headphones routine than fans might assume.

What happens next likely depends on how WWE and Fanatics view the podcast’s value going forward, and whether there’s appetite to retool the format again rather than let it lapse. Given the show’s already-rocky transition in 2025, another shake-up — or a quiet ending — wouldn’t be shocking. For now, fans are left wondering whether Six Feet Under will get a proper send-off or simply fade out once the contract expires.
