The win pushed Fenix to five successful defenses of the AAA Cruiserweight Championship in just 63 days, an eye-opening pace for a title that continues to find a home on WWE programming thanks to the ongoing relationship between WWE and AAA. Fenix has made a habit of treating the cruiserweight strap like a mainstay attraction rather than a novelty, and matches like this one only reinforce why he’s been booked so aggressively with it.

The involvement of Dominik Mysterio adds another layer worth watching. His alliance with McDonagh has been a consistent thorn in the side of babyfaces across the roster, and his failed attempt to cost Fenix the title here suggests WWE isn’t done using him as a wildcard in these cross-promotional cruiserweight bouts.
