Lesnar, Femi Get Official (Sort Of) Weigh-In Before SummerSlam

WWE turned up the temperature on Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi’s Hell in a Cell collision with a weigh-in segment on the July 27 edition of RAW, though only one of the two combatants actually agreed to step on the scale.

With their rivalry sitting at a win apiece after clashes at WrestleMania 42 and Clash in Italy, Triple H and Adam Pearce oversaw the face-to-face inside a ring already surrounded by the Cell structure ahead of their Minneapolis showdown at SummerSlam. Femi arrived first, escorted by police, and stepped inside the Cell before Pearce asked him to weigh in. He was announced at 302 pounds — eight pounds lighter than the 310-pound figure WWE had previously used for him.

Lesnar showed up next with Paul Heyman in tow, but he had no interest in matching Femi’s cooperation. Instead of entering the Cell, Lesnar stayed outside, locked the door himself, and pocketed the key. Heyman then announced a “change of plans,” claiming it was too risky to let Lesnar anywhere near the structure before the pay-per-view. As he ran through Lesnar’s history of carnage inside Hell in a Cell, Heyman revealed that The Beast had supposedly already been weighed backstage — coming in at 303 pounds, just a single pound heavier than Femi.

That number is worth an asterisk. Lesnar never got on the scale in front of the RAW crowd, and his listed weight has typically fluctuated between 286 and 295 pounds over the years. Whether the 303-pound figure is legitimate or just another Heyman mind game designed to make the size gap with Femi feel smaller than it is remains an open question.

Either way, the intent behind the segment was obvious. WWE has spent this feud building Femi as a dominant physical force capable of standing toe-to-toe with Lesnar, and shaving points off his billed weight while nudging Lesnar’s number closer to his does exactly what a good pro wrestling weigh-in is supposed to do — it plants doubt. Is Femi smaller than advertised? Is Lesnar bulkier than he’s looked in years, or is Heyman just running his usual playbook to get inside an opponent’s head before the bell even rings?

With the series tied and Hell in a Cell historically one of Lesnar’s signature stomping grounds, WWE clearly wants this one to feel like the decisive chapter. Numbers on a scale rarely settle anything in wrestling, but as a storytelling device to heighten the stakes going into SummerSlam, the exchange did its job — even if Lesnar made sure nobody actually got to verify his claim in real time.
