Report: Sami Callihan Working Behind The Scenes For AEW

Sami Callihan appears to have found a new home backstage, with reports indicating he has quietly begun working on the production side of AEW. The arrangement is said to be a trial run for now, with the door open to a more permanent role if things work out.

Callihan’s move makes plenty of sense given his recent career path. After hanging up his boots in 2025, he shifted into a non-wrestling capacity with TNA, taking on duties as a producer and agent while also lending a hand with merchandise and marketing. That run ended earlier this year when TNA trimmed its roster and staff, a cut that reportedly caught Callihan off guard — he has said he believed a creative role was coming his way before instead being informed of his release.

Callihan wasn’t the only notable name to exit TNA recently generating buzz. Sinner & Saint, the tag team of Travis Williams and Judas Icarus, were let go last week after the two requested their release, which the company granted. Sources close to the situation indicated Williams and Icarus were well respected internally, and that many were surprised the duo never got a bigger platform on TNA television to show what they could do.

Sinner & Saint joined TNA in 2024 and became part of the Northern Armory stable alongside Josh Alexander, with Eric Young later joining the group before it dissolved in September of last year. Before signing with TNA, the pair had built a strong reputation on the independent scene, having worked notable stints with Prestige Wrestling, DEFY Wrestling and DPW.

Also drawing attention is Steve Maclin, another recent TNA departure. Early contact between Maclin and AEW has reportedly taken place, though there’s nothing to suggest a deal is close or that talks have moved much beyond the initial stage. Whether any of these situations turn into something more permanent remains to be seen.
