Trick Williams Pitches Booker T’s Retirement Match Against Himself

Trick Williams has an idea for how Booker T should close out his in-ring career — and it involves the United States Champion himself.

Speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York on WWE Now, Williams opened up about the bond he shares with the WWE Hall of Famer, crediting Booker T with taking him under his wing before Williams had established himself as one of WWE’s rising stars. “Booker T is special, man, and I call him my uncle, because I truly do believe that Booker T is my uncle,” Williams said, explaining that Booker believed in him early and offered guidance on everything from camera presence to trash talk.

“He was just able to teach me the game and elevate my game to the next level so I could be that superstar and continue to grow every single day,” Williams said, adding that he still appreciates Booker taking that chance on him “at a time when it wasn’t the popular thing.”

With talk swirling that Booker T might be interested in one final match, Williams made his pitch clear: he wants to be the opponent. “Word through the grapevine is Booker T wants one more match,” Williams said. “I think it’s only right, it’s only befitting, if his last match is with the man that he helped mold into the superstar that he is today.” He floated a timeframe of “within the next year or so” and pointed to the crowd’s reaction as evidence the match should happen, saying, “The people have spoken.”

Booker T didn’t shut the door on the idea when he addressed it on his Hall of Fame podcast. “My thing has been, I never say never. I’m never going to close the book on any chapter or anything like that,” he said. “I feel like if I could will myself to do it, I will do it.” Booker, who turned 61 in March, acknowledged that the timeline Williams suggested would give him room to assess whether he’s physically able to compete again.

Williams also credited Triple H and Nick Khan as major influences on his development, calling Khan “a genius” for the ideas he’s brought to his career. Whether Booker T ultimately steps back into the ring — and against Williams specifically — remains to be seen, but both men have now publicly entertained the possibility.
