Donovan Dijak Speaks On Baron Corbin’s WWE Return

Donovan Dijak has weighed in on his tag team partner Baron Corbin’s surprise return to WWE.

Corbin, who had been working under the name Bishop Dyer during his run in MLW, showed up on the July 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, interrupting a singles match between Carmelo Hayes and United States Champion Trick Williams. The appearance marked Corbin’s first time back on WWE programming since departing the company, and it caught plenty of fans off guard given how entrenched he had become in MLW’s title picture.

Before heading back to WWE, Corbin had been reigning as one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Championship alongside Dijak, giving the pairing real momentum in that promotion. With Corbin now gone from the roster, Dijak has been the one left to address what the sudden exit means for their tag team and for MLW’s tag division moving forward.

Corbin’s WWE tenure had included stints as a Money in the Bank winner, King of the Ring, and a multi-time champion before he exited the company. His decision to pursue an MLW run afterward was seen as a notable departure for a performer of his profile, making his abrupt return to SmackDown all the more eye-catching. Interrupting a match involving the U.S. Title suggests WWE may already have plans to fold him back into that title picture, though nothing has been confirmed beyond the on-screen segment itself.

For MLW, losing one-half of its World Tag Team Champions on short notice leaves an obvious void, and it’s a situation Dijak now has to navigate as he continues on with the promotion. Whether the tag titles get addressed on-air or Dijak moves in a new direction remains to be seen.

As for Corbin, his next appearance on WWE television should offer more clarity on how the company plans to use him going forward.
