Paul Wight Teases Mysterious In-Ring Appearance on July 8 AEW Dynamite

Paul Wight is set to step between the ropes on the July 8 edition of AEW Dynamite — and he’s keeping the specifics close to the vest. The veteran big man confirmed he will have some kind of in-ring role on the show, describing exactly what he’ll be doing as a ‘big secret.’

Wight has been a sporadic but notable presence in AEW since joining the promotion in 2021, after spending more than two decades with WWE as The Big Show. During his time in AEW, he has mixed television commentary duties with periodic in-ring appearances, competing in a handful of matches across the run. The combination of roles has made him something of a wildcard — capable of showing up as an announcer one week and lacing up the boots the next.

The deliberate vagueness around his July 8 appearance makes it difficult to pin down whether he’ll be competing in a match, involved in a segment, or serving in some other capacity. What is clear is that Wight himself is treating it as a notable moment, which raises the intrigue heading into the broadcast.

At well over seven feet tall and with a career that spans decades at the top level of professional wrestling, Wight remains one of the most physically imposing figures the sport has ever produced. Even in a limited role, his presence on a Dynamite card tends to carry weight — and a ‘big secret’ framing suggests this is more than a routine appearance.

Fans tuning into Dynamite on July 8 will find out soon enough what Wight has in store.
