Mercedes Moné Wins Women’s Owen Hart Cup at Forbidden Door, Earns All In Title Shot — Praises Finalist Maya World

Mercedes Moné is heading to All In with a championship opportunity in hand after winning the women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Moné defeated Maya World in the tournament finals to secure a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at the marquee summer event.

Beyond the victory itself, Moné made a point of highlighting her opponent. She expressed genuine pride in Maya World following their match, a sentiment that carries added weight given the broader context Moné touched on — the experience of sharing the ring with wrestlers who grew up watching her compete. It’s a dynamic that speaks to how long Moné has been a prominent figure in the industry and the generational impact she’s had on the women’s division.

For Maya World, reaching the finals of a high-profile international tournament is a significant moment in her career trajectory, and the public praise from a performer of Moné’s caliber is no small thing. That kind of recognition, especially on a stage as large as Forbidden Door, can do a lot for a rising talent’s profile.

Now Moné turns her attention to All In, where an AEW Women’s World Championship match awaits. It’s a major opportunity for the TBS Champion to add more gold to her collection, and the momentum she’s built through the Owen Hart Cup puts her in strong position heading into one of AEW’s biggest events of the year.
