IYO SKY vs. Liv Morgan Headlines SummerSlam 2026 Card Predictions as Minneapolis Two-Nighter Takes Shape

WWE SummerSlam 2026 is set for August 1 and 2 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and with the event just weeks away, the card is beginning to come into focus — at least in part.

The only officially confirmed match so far is IYO SKY challenging Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Championship. SKY earned that right by defeating Morgan in the Queen of the Ring Finals at Night of Champions 2026, and she wasted no time making the challenge immediately after the bell. With Danhausen having placed a curse on Morgan ahead of that tournament match, SKY heads into SummerSlam with some supernatural momentum — for whatever that’s worth.

Beyond that confirmed bout, Night of Champions left a number of loose threads that point toward what else Minneapolis could deliver. Sami Zayn’s shocking triple-threat victory over Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Championship sets up what could be an emotionally charged rematch between Zayn and Rhodes, two men whose friendship has been fracturing for months. GUNTHER, meanwhile, had a tense post-show backstage confrontation with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis — one that turned physical before security intervened — and that heat could easily spill into an in-ring collision.

On the Raw side, Seth Rollins cleared his plate by defeating Bron Breakker in a Steel Cage at Night of Champions, and his attention now appears fixed on World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. The two have unfinished business dating back to 2025, and SummerSlam would be the stage to settle it.

The Street Profits are also fresh off a significant moment, having captured the WWE World Tag Team Championships on the June 22 edition of Raw by defeating Austin Theory and Bron Breakker — the fifth tag title reign for Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins. Jimmy and Jey Uso represent the most logical challengers, particularly after Jey’s unsuccessful King of the Ring bid against Oba Femi at Night of Champions.

Elsewhere, Jacob Fatu attacked LA Knight on that same June 22 Raw, reigniting a rivalry that traces back to WrestleMania 41. The IC Title picture is equally crowded, with Penta’s reign generating interest from multiple directions, including Ethan Page, Rusev, Rey Mysterio, Je’Von Evans, and Chad Gable — whose recent unmasking as El Grande Americano has made him a focal point of Raw.

With two nights of premium live event time to fill and storylines converging from multiple directions, SummerSlam 2026 has the potential to be one of the most loaded shows on WWE’s calendar.
