AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Set for San Jose with Swerve vs. Ospreay, Cage Match, and More

AEW and NJPW’s annual crossover supershow, Forbidden Door, is going down at SAP Center in San Jose, bringing with it one of the promotion’s most stacked cards of the year. Eleven matches are on the docket across the main card and the pre-show Buy-In, giving fans plenty to sink their teeth into before the night is done.

Headlining the event is a marquee singles collision between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay, two of the most talked-about performers in wrestling today. Mercedes Moné is also in action, defending against a world-title challenger in what figures to be another high-profile outing for the TBS and IWGP Women’s Champion.

One of the more visually striking bouts on the card is a 12-person steel cage match pitting MJF and members of the Don Callis Family against a squad led by former ROH World Tag Team Champion Mark Briscoe. The cage stipulation adds a layer of intensity to what has been one of the more heated ongoing storylines in AEW, and having Briscoe as the focal point of the opposition gives the match instant credibility.

The card also includes tournament finals, though the full bracket picture rounds out a show that already has more than enough to justify its place as one of the premier events on the wrestling calendar this summer.

Forbidden Door has consistently delivered since the partnership between AEW and NJPW first produced the event in 2022, and with San Jose hosting this edition, all eyes are on whether this year’s show can clear that already high bar.
