Josh Alexander Pays Tribute to Joe Doering Following Former TNA Champion’s Death at 44

The wrestling world is mourning the loss of Joe Doering, the former TNA World Tag Team Champion who passed away at the age of 44 following a lengthy battle with brain cancer. Doering had stepped away from in-ring competition in August 2022, and his death marks the end of a career that left a lasting mark on the sport.

Among those paying tribute is Josh Alexander, who offered an emotional response to the news of his former colleague’s passing. Alexander, who built much of his own legacy during his time in TNA alongside Doering, took time to honor the late competitor publicly. The two shared significant history together, and Alexander’s tribute speaks to the bond that can form between wrestlers who work closely in the same promotion over the years.

Doering was a recognizable figure in TNA, earning championship gold as part of the tag team division before his health forced him to the sidelines. His August 2022 departure came after what had clearly been a difficult personal battle, and the wrestling community rallied around him during that period.

The loss of a performer at 44 — with so much of his life still ahead of him — serves as a sobering reminder of the human beings behind the larger-than-life characters fans cheer and boo each week. Doering’s contributions to TNA and to the careers of those around him will not be forgotten, and the outpouring of tributes from those who knew him best reflects the kind of respect he earned throughout his time in the business.
