Tony Khan Says Buying TNA ‘Could Be Interesting’ But Draws the Line at $40 Million

Tony Khan isn’t ruling out a TNA Wrestling acquisition — but he’s not writing a blank check either.

During a media call ahead of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, the AEW president was asked directly about his interest in purchasing TNA Wrestling, following reports this week that the promotion could be on the market. When pressed on the topic, Khan acknowledged the idea had some appeal, describing a potential acquisition as something that ‘could be interesting.’ However, when a figure of $40 million was floated as a possible asking price, Khan made clear he would not be paying that kind of money for it.

The exchange puts a public face on what had largely been rumor and speculation. TNA has been part of ongoing industry conversations about its future ownership, and Khan’s willingness to engage with the question — even in a measured, non-committal way — signals that AEW isn’t completely indifferent to the idea. Khan has a track record of cross-promotional ambition; AEW’s working relationships with NJPW, ROH (which he purchased outright in 2022), and others demonstrate an appetite for expanding his wrestling footprint.

That said, his pushback on the price is notable. Acquiring ROH was widely reported to have come at a relatively modest cost compared to the broader market, so a $40 million valuation for TNA appears to be a non-starter from his perspective.

Whether TNA ultimately finds a buyer — and at what price — remains to be seen, but Khan’s comments add a significant voice to the conversation surrounding the promotion’s future.
