Cris Cyborg to Defend PFL Women’s Featherweight Title in Retirement Fight on August 22

One of combat sports’ most decorated fighters is set to walk away on her own terms. The PFL has announced that Cris Cyborg will face Ketlen Vieira on August 22 in what has been billed as her retirement bout, with Cyborg’s Women’s Featherweight Championship on the line.

The fight is slated to serve as the main event for PFL Tampa, taking place at the Benchmark International Arena. Cyborg enters the contest as champion, meaning she’ll be putting her title up in what could be the final fight of a legendary career.

Cyborg has long been considered one of the most dominant fighters in the history of women’s combat sports. She has competed across multiple major MMA organizations throughout her career, collecting world titles along the way and building a reputation as arguably the best female featherweight the sport has ever seen. Vieira, a credentialed former UFC bantamweight title challenger, represents a serious final test for the Brazilian icon.

Whether Cyborg walks away with the belt or not, August 22 in Tampa figures to be an emotional sendoff for one of the sport’s genuine greats.
