Kendal Grey Has Never Met Kurt Angle Despite Fan Comparisons, Calls Herself a ‘Huge Fan’

Kendal Grey has made a striking impression in WWE in a relatively short window of time, but one connection she hasn’t yet made is a personal one with the legend she’s most often compared to — Kurt Angle.

Grey, who has an amateur wrestling background, has drawn frequent comparisons to Angle due to the speed with which she’s adapted to the professional wrestling environment. Within just two and a half years in WWE, she captured the EVOLVE Women’s Title and has since worked her way into contention for the NXT Women’s Championship — a trajectory that has turned heads throughout the industry. Despite those parallels, Grey has revealed that she has never actually spoken with Angle, though she is quick to describe herself as a major fan of the Olympic gold medalist.

The comparison is an easy one to understand. Angle’s own transition from decorated amateur wrestler to professional wrestling star is one of the most celebrated in the business, and Grey appears to be charting a similarly steep learning curve. Her amateur credentials gave her a credible physical foundation, and her rapid accumulation of titles and opportunities suggests WWE sees significant long-term potential in her.
