The wrestling world has been dying to see The Rock return for another match. The Great World last squared off against Erick Rowan in a squash match at WrestleMania 32. He would make several appearances in the following years, but that showing has largely remained limited to cutting promos and performing his signature moves.
With WrestleMania 39 just 60 days from happening, fans want to know whether or not The Rock will deliver the rumored match with Roman Reigns. It appears that the match may not happen this year at WrestleMania. That said, The Rock himself sees a possible full-length match happening next year at WrestleMania 40.
Here’s the update, courtesy of Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer:
Dwayne’s not wrestling anybody else on the show unless it’s a three-second match. I mean, he could go do that, he could do an angle. He did not feel that he had the time to get into the shape he needed to be in to do a WrestleMania caliber main event, and left the door open for next year.
WWE has already confirmed Roman Reigns’ match for WrestleMania this year. The Tribal Chief will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner, Cody Rhodes, on the grandest stage of them all.
