The next premium live event to take place in Saudi Arabia has been renamed, a tweet from WWE has confirmed.
WWE were set to return to Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 27 for it’s first ever ‘King And Queen Of The Ring’ Event. This was announced by the company in March 2023, with the event set to feature both the iconic King Of The Ring tournament as well as the women’s Queen’s Crown tournament that was established in 2021.
It now seems that this event will now not take place, with a tweet on Thursday confirming the event would now be titled ‘Night Of Champions’. This would be the first ‘Night Of Champions’ event to take place since 2015, and the first to be held outside of the United States
It is not yet known if the tournaments will still take place at the event or if they will perhaps happen later in the year, but the renaming of the event would indicate a change of direction for the event and it does seem that plans for the tournaments may have been scrapped.
