Bandido has gotten his visa issues all fixed.
Bandido was one of the major internationals who signed with AEW after Tony Khan’s acquisition of Ring of Honor. The former ROH World Champion made his AEW debut in a match against Chris Jericho on the September 28, 2022, edition of Dynamite.
His last Dynamite appearance transpired on January 18, 2023, when he took on Bryan Danielson. After that, Bandido was unable to compete in the United States due to his visa issues. The good news is that the powerhouse luchadore is now cleared to wrestle in the states following the clearance of his visa issues.
Speaking during the ROH Supercard of Honor media call (transcription courtesy of Fightful), Khan said Bandido was stuck overseas because he had to get his visa renewed in order to compete in the United States. Khan described Bandido as a great talent with a potential both in domestic and international promotions.
“Bandido is a great example of an international wrestler that I’ve seen in Ring of Honor and was on All In and is a tremendous talent. He signed with ROH when we started AEW. On ROH, he was the lineal champion. I really like working with him and he’s one of a number of international wrestlers who I really like who have had to renew their visas. It’s nothing nefarious, it’s a process that, when you use international talent, for a company that does the bulk of its business domestically, then you’re going to see visa renewals and you deal with it whether it’s in AEW or English football. I was very excited to get Bandido’s stuff all settled and he’s been a great example of somebody that has a chance to excel in both promotions and internationally.”
It remains to be seen if Tony Khan will bring Bandido to AEW or ROH given his history with both promotions. You can check out the card for ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view event by clicking here.
